Maine Medical Center

Internal Medicine Residency

Residency at here was quite robust. MMC is a large tertiary care community hospital with a university affiliation and a Level I Trauma Center. Being the largest hospital in the state, and that north of Boston, made the referral base massive.  Portland is also a designated federal refugee placement city diversifying the community that much further. Being a community referral center kept the work “real-world,” but the university affiliation kept education academic.  eICU helped in the intensive care units, and I became comfortable with electronic health records here as well.

Tufts Medical Center

Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship

Tufts is a Level II Trauma Center with a varied pathology and patient background base consistent with an inner-city urban medical center.  We are exposed to a myriad disease entities and collaborate with the best and brightest experts and colleagues that Boston has to offer.  Training is intense and geared toward instilling a sense of teamwork, but with independent thought and work ethic.  As general course, we would also cover a local community ICU and rotate through a Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH).

We offer many invasive and less invasive procedures. Some of these must be done in the hospital or operating room, but some can be done in the office as well. Most of our procedures are on an outpatient basis. They include bronchoscopy, biopsies, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), bronchial thermoplasty for asthma, and many others
